Bobby was born and raised in Southeast Arkansas. He started singing and playing piano at the tender age of 3 and was fronting his family’s band by age six appearing on the
local morning T.V. program twice by the age of 7. He also began piano lessons around this time. By the age of 8, he was playing drums and singing lead vocals with his child hood friends. At 11, he wanted to add a keyboard player to his band, BUT couldn’t find one, so he switched to keys and has made a name for himself on this instrument. He also picked up alto sax along the way. He was recording at age 15. At 19, he hit the road with various regional acts, opening for many National acts.
At the age of 23, he found himself working for the nationally-known band, 38 Special, as the keyboard player behind the curtain. Also a technical wiz, he was programming sequences and samples with the Atari computer and "SYNC TRACK PRO". Soon after beginning with 38 Special, he became the full time keyboard player and background vocalist.
To this day, he sings lead vocals on the “38 Special” Top Ten hit, “Second Chance”, written and originally sung by Max Carl. Along the way, he has worked with many artists and managed to record several of his own records. He also played with the “Johnny VanZant Band” on the “Brickyard Road Tour”. He has appeared on many TV programs and shared the stage with hundreds of heavyweights in the music business.
